AND THE ESCARGOT TO...

Pretty amazing how global the Oscars went this year ! The first one of the evening went to Ratatouille, very french in spirit. The second one went to Didier Lavergne who managed to say "I am appy and proude" and the third one to Javier Bardem who switched to spanish in the middle of his acceptance speech : "para ti Mama y para Espana"! How cool is that... and it's just the beginning. The Oscar for short film went to Le Mozart des pickpockets and Philippe Pollet-Villard apologized for not speaking English too well and ended up his acceptance speech with a lovely "merci, en voir!"...
Jon Stewart was good, light and funny. I liked his:
“Jessica Alba is pregnant, Nicole Kidman is pregnant, Cate Blanchett is pregnant and the baby goes to……… Angelina Jolie!"
One of the highlight of the evening was Marion Cotillard winning the Oscar for best actress… first one since Simone Signoret (Juliette Binoche got one for a supporting role).
Marion was shaken : "sank you, sank you life, sank you love... it is true there is an angel in this city"... Cute. The French people are going to be very happy not to have carla Bruni on the covers of their magazines for a week or two !
Oscar of bad taste: soldiers live from Irak presenting the Oscar for best documentary! Thank God, “No end in sight” was presented in the next category. It didn't win but the documentary "Taxi to the dark side" about the torture practices of the USA did, and the director made it clear that he hoped America would step out of the dark side very soon! Me too.
Diablo Cody won for best screenplay and gave the most conventional and teary acceptance speech which proves only one thing and that is that she has been hollywooded big time! Where is the outspoken tattoed stripper from the Midwest? Nowhere in sight.
Daniel Day-Lewis won best actor of course... so I keep my Double Trouble name intact(see archive. He dedicated his award to many people among them his three sons and Mrs Plainview... poor Rebecca Miller!

And the escargot to…
Petit parfum d'international pour cette 80ième édition des Oscars. Le premier des trophées est allé à Ratatouille (assez français par son rat et sa tatouille), le deuxième à Didier Lavergne qui réussi à sortir "I am appy and proude" et le troisième à Javier Bardem qui est passé à l’espagnol au milieu de son discours de remerciement et a proclamé "para ti Mama y para Espana"! Trop mignon! L’oscar du court-métrage est allé à Le Mozart des pickpockets et Philippe Pollet-Villard s’est excusé très gracieusement de ne pas parler anglais et a conclu sur "merci, en voir!"...
Jon Stewart s’est révélé drôle, concis et léger. Parmi ses meilleurs moments :
“Jessica Alba est enceinte, Nicole Kidman est enceinte, Cate Blanchett est enceinte et le bébé va a ……… Angelina Jolie!"
Marion Cotillard a gagné l’Oscar de la meilleure actrice ce qui vous permettra peut-être de ne pas avoir Carla Bruni en couverture des magazines pendant quelque temps, ce qui, avouons-le est un provilège exceptionnel. Très classe la Cotillard et assez touchant son "merci, merci la vie, merci l’amour, il y a vraiment des anges dans cette ville"!
Oscar du mauvais goût: des soldats qui en direct d’Irak présentent un Oscar pour un documentaire… grâce au ciel, "No end in sight" était nommé dans la catégorie d’après...
C'est un autre documentaire, "Taxi to the dark side" sur les pratiques de torture américaines qui a gagné et son réalisateur a pu dire haut et clair qu'il espérait que l'Amérique sorte enfin des ténèbres... moi aussi!
Diablo Cody a gagné pour le meilleur scénario et son discours de remerciement était aussi conventionnel que tarte. Où est passée la strippeuse effrontée et tatouée du Midwest? Hollywoodisée vite fait, c'était à prévoir !
Daniel Day-Lewis a gagné l'Oscar du meilleur acteur et je garde mon nom intact (voir archive). Plus craquant que jamais, il a dedié son Oscar à de nombreuses personnes... parmi elles, ses TROIS fils et Madame Plainview : pauvre Rebecca Miller!
