In Liar Liar, Jim Carrey was a liar lawyer pants on fire who for a day was forced to tell the truth in order to win back his son’s love and trust. In The Invention of Lying, the character played by Ricky Gervais relies on lies to win the heart of the woman he loves making fun of religion, wealth, happiness, hospices and Coca Cola along the way. With Jennifer Garner (who definitely has looks and brains), Tina Fey, Rob Lowe and I swear I saw Edward Norton but he is not in the credits!
Réalisé par Ricky Gervais, l'acteur comique Anglais révélé par l'excellente série télévisée Extras, The Invention of Lying se passe dans un monde qui ne connait pas le mensonge. Dans Liar Liar, Jim Carrey jouait le rôle d'un avocat menteur condamné à ne dire que la vérité afin de pouvoir regagner la confiance et l'amour de son fils et dans The Invention of Lying, c'est un peu le contraire: le personnage que joue Ricky Gervais a recours au mensonge pour pouvoir conquérir le coeur de la femme qu'il aime. Au passage la vérité et le mensonge se heurtent à la religion, aux croyances imbéciles, au bonheur, à l'argent, aux hospices et au Coca-Cola pour n'en citer que quelques uns! On rit beaucoup. Avec Jennifer Garner, Tina Fey, Rob Lowe et je pourrais jurer avoir vu passer Edward Norton à moins qu'il ne s'agisse d'un sosie.
