One shouldn’t use karma lightly. See what happened to Sharon Stone in Cannes. She declared, in a microphone and with a camera in her face (your shortest way to YouTube) that the earthquake in China might have something to do with karma… By “karma” you have to hear retaliation, vengeance, payback, and basically something along the lines of “it will teach them to do no good to the Tibetans”. Sharon Stone is no Ban ki-Moon and she is not the ambassador of the USA, but she is one of Dior’s ambassadors ! She is paid loads of money for it therefore she has to be pretty careful about how she looks and what she says. Seems to be at least as challenging as playing in a remake of Basic Instinct. Not only is the karma comment one of the dumbest things ever said but it’s stretching the notion of karma a bit too far. Only to give you an example, don’t you think that America has enough in the karma bank to be eradicated from the map of the earth along with most of the so-called civilized countries? It was just a dumb statement made by a movie star who is an exception in Hollywood since she doesn’t do movies that much but is still a movie star. What is even more surprising is Dior’s reaction : Sharon Stone has been one of the "faces" of Dior for some time but in the aftermath of the karma incident, the ad campaigns portraying Sharon Stone have stopped and her contract is in great jeopardy. I am not sure that the fact that the victims of the earthquake are going to stop buying Capture Totale and Rinse-off Cleansing foam … not talking about Skinflash radiance is going to make much of a difference but it’s a fact. No more Sharon in China, karma or not, she might have to switch brands.
I am talking Karma Stone because there is not much I have to say about the movies this week. I have seen some and I am kind of sorry I did. Try to see The Fall when it is finally released (movie theatre or DVD). Directed by Tarsem (who directed The Cell with Jennifer Lopez), it is a visual feast without much special effects and therefore truly magic. One of the main characters is a little 5 year old Romanian actress who is the best actress I’ve seen in a long time.
On ne rigole pas avec le karma. Voyez plutôt ce qui arrivé à Sharon Stone à Cannes. Elle a déclaré dans un micro et devant une caméra (le plus court chemin vers YouTube) qu’elle se demandait si le tremblement de terre en Chine avait quelque chose à voir avec le karma. Par “karma”, entendez retaliation, vengeance, et en fait quelque chose du genre “ca vous apprendra à mal traiter les Tibétains”. Sharon Stone n’est pas Ban ki-Moon pas plus qu’ambassadeur des Etats-Unis mais elle est ambassadrice de … Dior ! Ca veut dire qu’elle est payée très cher pour être tres belle et ne pas dire d’âneries embarrassantes. Raté ! Sa notion de karma est parfaitement inepte et si on suit son raisonnement il y a longtemps que les Etats-Unis devrait avoir disparu avec la majorité des pays soi-disant civilisés d’ailleurs, de la face de la planète. Ce qui est surprenant, c’est l’ampleur qu’a pris l’incident karma (un grand article dans le New York Times aujourd’hui par exemple) et la décision de Dior de suspendre toutes les campagnes publicitaires Dior en Chine avec Sharon Stone et de remettre en cause son contrat. Je ne suis pas sûre que le fait que les victimes du tremblement de terre cessent d’acheter Capture Totale et Rinse-off Cleansing foam … sans parler de Skinflash radiance va faire une grande différence mais c’est un fait. Plus de Sharon en Chine. Karma ou pas, elle devra probablement changer de “crèmerie” ! Si je parle Karma Stone aujour’dhui c’est parce qu’il n’y a pas grand chose à dire des films. J’en ai vu certains et je n’en suis pas fière. Cela dit et s’il passe près de chez vous, essayez de voir The Fall réalisé par Tarsem (il a réalisé il y a quelques années The Cell avec Jennifer Lopez), images magnifiques et magiques sans trop d’effets spéciaux. Un des personnages principaux est une petite fille Roumaine de 5 ans qui est probablement la meilleure actrice que j’ai vu cette année au cinéma.
