Thomas is a film critic for Le Monde, the author of the movie blog Premieres Prises ( http://sotinel.blog.lemonde.fr/ ). He is also a writer and the author of two books about cinema : Martin Scorsese (Editions Cahiers du Cinema) and Pedro Almodovar (Editions Cahiers du Cinema).

1- What film frightened you the most this year?
The original version of Funny Games by Michael Haneke I discovered when the remake was released ; first of all because of what we see and also because it makes you aware of how little we are in the hands of a true manipulator.
2- The most powerful interview?
Steve McQueen: I have rarely encountered a man so convinced of his self-importance and couldn't agree more with him (self)?!
3-Your favorite festival memory?
Cannes’ palmares this year when the entire classroom of M. Begaudeau walked on stage
4- The worst festival memory?
When the public stood up at the end of the opening ceremony in Abu Dhabi and forgot to come back for the movie ! They were right but they couldn’t have known that beforehand!
5- Did you ever fall asleep during a film?
Yes, many times but rarely during films that I would have loved to miss entirely.
6- What film made you laugh the most this year?
Tropic Thunder

1- Quel est le film qui vous a le plus effrayé cette année ?
Funny Games, l'original, de Michael Haneke, que j'ai découvert à l'occasion du remake américain, d'abord à cause de ce que l'on voit et aussi parce qu'on réalise à quel point un spectateur est peu de choses entre les mains d'un manipulateur résolu.
2- L'interview la plus marquante?
Steve McQueen: J'ai rarement rencontré un homme aussi convaincu de son importance et être aussi d'accord avec lui.
3- Quel a ete votre meilleur souvenir de festival et pourquoi?
Le palmarès de Cannes cette année et toute la classe de M. Begaudeau sur scène
4- Quel a été votre pire moment de festival?
Quand tout le public s'est levé à la fin de la cérémonie d'ouverture du festival d'Abu Dhabi et a oublié de revenir pour la projection du film, ils avaient raison mais ils ne pouvaient pas le savoir à l'avance
5- Vous êtes-vous déjà endormi lors d'une projection?
Oui, souvent et rarement pendant les films dont j'aurais voulu rater des plans entiers
6- Quel film vous a fait le plus rire cette année?
Tropic Thunder
