There is a cartoonesque quality in Burn after reading : the latest Coen brothers’ movie is a comedy and it is indeed quite funny. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Frances McDormand, John Malkovitch, Tilda Swinton as a bunch of Dalton/Pieds Nickelés, spooks and nuts! Neither deep nor meaningful, it provides a healthy good laugh and it has a few good lines. The scenario itself reminded me of one of these old cartoons with Tom and Jerry. You know, the one where Tom uses a ton of dynamite to blow up a castle in order to catch Jerry’s tail ... or something like that! I might have laughed even more if I haven’t had to endure an obscene commercial for the National Guard before the movie. It is called Warrior. It makes me sick to think that young kids are going to fall for this kind of propaganda and enroll thinking that they are doing the right thing ! How dare “they” package such a piece of crap ? In my mind the people behind this sorry production are criminals. Actually they should be sent to Afghanistan in winter for a while, since it’s so great to be there to defend liberty ! Why not? Apparently anyone with a conscience can do it. Why don’t they? Their names are in the credits, hope they will !
Il y a un petit côté cartoon dans Burn after reading : le dernier film des frères Coen est une comédie et c’est bien plus drôle que les Chtis. George Clooney, Frances McDormand, John Malkovitch, Tilda Swinton jouent une bande de Pieds Nickelés complètement à l’ouest. Le film n’est pas profond et n’incite pas à réfléchir mais à rire et c’est déjà très bien. Le scénario m’a fait penser à un de ces dessins animés où Tom explose un château à la dynamite pour attraper la queue de Jerry... ou quelque chose comme ça. En tous les cas, j’aurais probablement encore plus ri si je n’avais pas eu à regarder une publicité pour la National Guard (recrutement toujours...) avant le film. Ca s’appelle Warrior et c’est d’une obscénité totale. Ca me rend malade de penser que des jeunes vont se laisser prendre au piège et qu’ils vont aller s’engager afin de défendre la liberté ! Quelle honte ! Les gens derrière ce genre de production sont des criminels et d’ailleurs, si c’est si bien que ça l’Afghanistan en hiver, ils devraient bien y aller. En voila une bonne idee : relever tous les noms de ceux qui ont participé à cette horreur de court-métrage et les envoyer là-bas pour un mois.
