She gets noticed (since it’s a stripper blog, it helps) and is caught by Hollywood frenzy because she also has an idea for a movie and it is a story very easy to pitch : teenage pregnant eccentric girl gives child away for adoption to so-called normal people. Jason Reitman (Thank you for smoking) son of Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters) directs and we have a nice little comedy, witty, funny, and ready to grab some awards thanks to a very poor year in blockbusters. Not that the movie is bad, it’s good enough but is there anything remotely funny about teenage pregnancy? I don’t think so. What slightly annoyed me in this movie was that I was made to believe that the character of Juno was exotic. She is, in a very stereotypical kind of way. She is probably very exotic in the eyes of a director who was probably brought up in Los Angeles, a territory way away from America in my opinion ! I guess I have the same feeling when I see the proverbial “French” character in the movies: it comes with its little laugh, its little arrogance, its little cynicism, its style, all packaged under a great stereotypical French label. I know lots of French people and even in movies, not many qualify for such a load (except maybe Carla Bruni who is French by accident! ) Same here: Juno comes packaged: she is the middle-class witty, not well polished even less well mannered adorable teenager coming from another galaxy, a galaxy called ... I'm not sure, but I think it's the midwest! Far away from Juno (not Alaska but Olympia), I highly recommend Carla’s big sister’s (Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi) movie “I’ts easier for a camel...” (DVD) about the family saga.

Elle est remarquée par un agent (le fait que son blog soit son journal de stripteaseuse aide un peu) et elle est embarquée à Hollywood où elle présente l’idée de film qui la démange depuis un certain temps et qui se résume comme suit : eccentrique teenager tombe enceinte et décide de donner son enfant à adopter à un couple bien comme il faut et propre sur lui du moins en apparence. Jason Reitman réalise le film et on obtient une bonne petite comédie, drôle, grinçante et prête à recevoir plein d’oscars que les autres n’auront pas vu que l’année cinématographique s’est révélée particulièrement pauvre. Ce qui m’a un peu agacée avec ce film, c’est cette insistance à vouloir prouver que Juno est eccentrique à chaque détour de bon mot. Un peu trop caricatural à mon goût. Un peu comme le personnage du français soi-disant typique dans les films américains: arrogant, parlant fort, sûr de lui, mais tellement stylé! Je connais beaucoup de français mais assez peu ont ce profil, même au cinéma. Carla Bruni peut-être mais elle est française par accident. En parlant du diable, je conseille vivement le film de sa grande soeur Valeria intitulé “Il est plus facile pour un chameau...” (disponible en DVD), c’est un très bon film racontant la saga de la famille et remarquablement interprêté par Chiara Mastroianni dans le rôle de Carla et Valeria dans son propre rôle.
